By focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education, we provide access to state-of-the-art resources that ignite creativity and foster innovation. Located in the historic fire station at 2033 Vine Street, our programs focus on preparing individuals in historically underserved zip codes for emerging career opportunities. Whether it's hands-on training in film studios, sound engineering labs, or visual arts workshops, iSTEAMkc ensures that no community is left behind in the pursuit of progress and innovation.

As Kansas City anticipates over 18,000 new jobs in STEAM-related fields, iSTEAMkc plays a crucial role in preparing the workforce of tomorrow. Our tailored workforce development initiatives include paid internships, mentorships, and job shadowing opportunities, providing invaluable real-world experience for students and young professionals. 2022 Workforce Development Symposium: A Catalyst for Community Collaboration
The 2022 Workforce Development Symposium, hosted by iSTEAMkc at the historic Gem Theater, marked a pivotal moment for community engagement in Kansas City. This groundbreaking event brought together over 125 community organizations, agencies, and representatives, all united by a shared goal of addressing workforce development in underserved communities. The symposium featured roundtable discussions and panels led by prominent local leaders, including experts from The DeBruce Foundation, KC Tech Council, and PREP-KC.
Key topics included overcoming barriers to workforce readiness, such as transportation, digital connectivity, and trust between employers and underrepresented communities. Attendees explored innovative solutions and emphasized the need for collaboration to meet the demand for over 18,000 projected jobs in Kansas City’s future workforce. This event not only highlighted the region's challenges but also fostered partnerships and actionable strategies, reinforcing iSTEAMkc’s commitment to building a more inclusive and innovative Kansas City.
